As the major oil and gas supplier in the Sultanate, PDO is proud of its leading role in the energy sector which has helped to modernise the country and transform its economic fortunes under His Majesty’s wise leadership.

However, we have never lost sight of the fact that in order to carry out our daily tasks of exploration and production it is not only necessary but desirable to be a good corporate citizen – especially against a backdrop of rising community expectations and public scrutiny. This is regarded by PDO as simply the right thing to do – pragmatically, commercially but above all, morally. That’s why our community initiatives are directed at where we can make a tangible, positive and lasting difference to lives, by targeting our funds, skills and expertise at those who most need them.

This help comes in many forms, such as the investment in and mentoring of local entrepreneurs, job creation schemes, vocational training, vital community infrastructure, student sponsorship and support for non-governmental organisations.

This support provides a unique value to the local community in PDO’s concession area and beyond, underpinning our social licence to operate.

National Objectives

PDO’s National Objectives Department has been working closely alongside the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), PDO contractors, and local training institutes to reduce the number of jobseekers in the Sultanate by training  young Omanis through the vocational sector.

In-Country Value

PDO aims to share the benefits of the oil and gas industry across Oman through its In-Country Value (ICV) strategy. PDO is committed to maximising the procurement of local goods and services as well as improving the capacity and capability of Omani people and companies in order to secure sustainable commercial benefits for the Sultanate.

Social Investment

A key element of our success has been the close working relationship between PDO, the communities where we operate and all aspects of society in Oman. With this in mind, we have developed a structured social investment programme which is implemented in close collaboration with the Government.

Community Relations

The Community Relations (CR) Department has developed a long-term plan that identifies Company strengths and leverages them to provide a unique value to the local community in PDO’s concession area and thereby contribute to preserving PDO’s social licence.
