Message of the Month

Colleagues,

The month of June has been painful. As expected, seven recordable LTI’s took place . Three of them were road traffic related and could have resulted into fatalities. The sad fact to these incidents remains to be a common underlying cause which is “ignoring or failing to observe basic safety rules”.

The stories are more alarming outside the working environment. Several incidents in the month June claimed precious lives of PDO and contractor staff family members, again of failing to observe basic safety rules.

For the first time this year, our score card on LTIF has gone to red. Beyond statistical numbers, this is a tragedy.

What can we collectively do to arrest this pain and regain control of safety at a personal level?

Let us start with beliefs. Are you a safety believer? Do you take chances and ignore basic safety rules? Do you do that often, occasionally or never? An honest answer would gauge your true beliefs on Safety. Remember, Chance takers are accident makers. Life did not start by accident, do not end it that way!

We rely on your conscious decision and willingness to take safety rules seriously, without which, our efforts are all in vain.

Please help us to communicate this message by sharing it with all those you care for at work and outside work. It could save a life.

Kind Regards,

Khalfan bin Mohammed Al-Esry
