Safety is Everyone's Business... Make it Yours!

Message of the Month

Dear Colleagues,

The month of August brought hope. Hope because we saw a sharp reduction in painful incidents. Only one lost time incident was recorded. Such a performance has told us a lot. Of all messages that have been shared, the one that stands out very clear comes from the proverb “Where there is a will, there is a way”. We saw that will and commitment very clear from those who participated in the safety week. From Directors, Managers, CEOs, leaders, Supervisors all the way to the workforce in PDO and in the Contracting community. Everyone is keen to see an end to painful injuries. An end to the loss of a colleague. Our common mission remains, and is to have: No more pain, No more losses of lives, and even no more minor injuries.

“Safety, my responsibility” is now being translated from words into action with hard evidence. The efforts that went into the safety week campaign have paid back thanks to your efforts, willingness and commitment. Maintaining this level of performance needs your renewed commitment every single day of your life. And on that, we count on you. You have proven to the world that it is possible and it is achievable.

Let us sustain the level of performance for the month of September. The month when children go back to school, the month when temperatures begin to become cooler, the month when majority of staff come back from leave, fully energised and ready to give their best. Let us all strive to make 100 days LTI free.
Kind Regards,

Khalfan bin Mohammed Al-Esry
Corporate HSE & SD Manager (MSEM)

Health

HFE training Anyone involved in health and safety will be well aware of the rapid growth in interest in the subject of 'human factors' over recent years. Human Factor Engineering (HFE) is an approach to system design focused on usability to enhance user effectiveness, efficiency, as well as safe and healthy working conditions. Achieving a “right first time” design requires the integration of specific activities in the early development phases of the project design process. This is where the HSE Advisor can have an input with the concept and design engineers.
MSE has arranged for experts to run two day knowledge level training for PDO Engineers and HSE Advisors on the 13 & 14 September. Register your interest with Brett Young (MSE/32).
