HSE Notice
With immediate effect, a person with a valid DD permit who books a DD06 course prior to his permit expiring but due to the long course waiting lists can not get on a course until after his permit expires, will be allowed to continue to drive and take the DDC06 course up to 3 months after his permit has expired. This replaces the old rule of a maximum of two weeks. If a person allows their permit to expire before booking a course then they will have to resit their DDC01 or DDC02. If a person books a course prior to his permit expiring but leaves it to the last minute so that he is unable to successfully book a DDC06 within 3 months of the permit expiring, he too will have to resit the DDC01 or DDCO2. This is in response to the long waiting times which we are experiencing due to the increased failures rates and new course structure. In addition, if the candidate fails the DD course test, then a retest can be taken provided it occurs within the same 3 month period and the person can continue to drive up to the 3 month limit or he fails the retest. It is recommended as always that people book a refresher course 3 months prior to the permit expiry date to make sure of a booking in future. |
