Use
the STOP™ Safety
Observation Cycle for formal safety audits.
How does STOP for Supervision Work?
Conducting
ad-hoc STOP intervention
With Ad
Hoc STOP™ Interventions the emphasis is placed more on
the Intervention (i.e. the verbal interaction) with
employees and less on the use of the STOP™ information.
Therefore the use of STOP™ Cards or of capturing the
data of the intervention in the Database is
discretionary, depending on whether the observer wishes
to communicate or record this information.
Conducting
scheduled STOP visit
With
scheduled STOP visits line leaders are required to carry
on STOP schedule according to the Leaders’ level to
conduct a minimum number of Detailed STOP™ Interventions
in a predetermined period in a specific area of
responsibility.
The frequency at which Detailed STOP™ Interventions are
required to be done will depend on how close the Leader
is to the worksite:
o First
Line Supervisor / HSE Advisor - 2 per month
o Manager - 1 per month
o
Executive - 1 per 6 months
