Fatal Public Bus Incident

The bus was approaching Rima roundabout having travelled from Marmul with 21 passengers who were mostly PDO contractors. Despite the fog, the bus was travelling just below the speed limit of 100 km/hr and to reduce the risk of him veering off the road the driver had positioned his bus over the centre line. In the reduced visibility the bus driver did not see the lorry coming from the opposite direction, resulting in a head on collision.

  • Driving in fog is dangerous and should be avoided.
  • If driving in foggy conditions put your lights on and slow down.
  • Taking a later commuting bus is far safer.
  • Seatbelts only restrain you if worn.
  • If you are not happy about a bus driver intervene and report it to management.
