Hazards and Effects Management Process (HEMP)
PDO activities have the potential to harm people and the environment, to cause damage or loss to assets, to defer oil production, to cause financial loss, and to adversely impact the Company’s reputation. A Hazards and Effects Management Process (HEMP) provides a structured approach to managing the hazards and potential effects of PDO’s activities.

Hearts & Minds
It is a journey to create and maintain a world class HSE culture. This means having every one on board and in agreement about the values of HSE, but has many other advantages. Good HSE performance is a sign of an organization that is performing well at everything.

PPE
PPE is the last form of defence. Prior to its use, other defences such as removing the hazard, reducing the potential severity of the hazard (e.g., using a less toxic chemical, isolation of the hazard, reducing the number of people and extent of exposure etc.), should be implemented before PPE is applied.

| |
QRA
Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) is the means by which “Risk” for a hazard can be expressed as a scalar value that is a function of that hazard’s frequency and consequence.

STOP

Permit To Work
The petroleum industry handles large quantities of flammable and toxic materials, so the potential for serious accidents is clear. To prevent these accidents, it is vital that there are safe systems of work operating.
