Omanisation & Training

Omanisation and training are two keystones of PDO’s employment policy. At the end of 2005, a record number of 3784 Omanis - equivalent to 82% of the workforce - had establishment positions in the Company. Moreover, a large number of Omani staff – 86 in total – were promoted internally to senior management levels in 2005.

To underpin further development of the Company’s staff, 23,000 man-days of training were provided in 2005, at a total investment cost of $7.3 million.

In addition, PDO sponsors community youth for training and educational development, and has done so for several years.Through PDO sponsorship, community youth can attend the Sultan’s School to complete their secondary education, attend local training centres to gain vocational skills, be trained by PDO as technicians, or attend colleges of further learning in order to gain diplomas through to advanced degrees in engineering.
