Fresh Graduate Scholarships

PDO scholarship schemes are considered to be one of the best development schemes offered to Omani graduates since the early 1980s.
Overview

The schemes have educated more than 2000 graduates across all the levels of Education from Diplomas to PhDs. Many have successfully reached top management positions due to the strength of the schemes and the foundation they offer for a successful career.

PDO offers two schemes to Omani fresh graduates: the Undergraduate Overseas Scholarship Scheme and the Postgraduate Overseas Scholarship Scheme.

Undergraduate Overseas Scholarship Scheme

  • The scheme is offered to high school leavers through the Higher Education Admissions Centre (HEAC) annually
  • The scheme covers full tuition fees, medical insurance, living expenses, transportation, clothing, books, and equipment.
  • Majors offered are mainly in Petroleum Engineering, Geosciences, and Quantity Surveying or as advertised by HEAC.
  • Entry requirements are ‘A’ grades in Maths, Physics, Chemistry and English Language or as advertised by HEAC.
  • Universities are selected by the Company in countries such as the U.K, USA, Canada, and Australia.
  • Applicants must apply through the Higher Education Admissions Centre website: www.heac.gov.om as advertised in the students guide issued by the centre
  • Graduates of this scheme are not bonded to serve the Company. A score of GPA 2.5 or a 2nd class lower division (2:2) is the minimum requirement to apply for technical jobs at the Company.
  • Scoring a final grade of GPA 3.0 or a 2nd class higher division gives the graduate a chance to apply for the Postgraduate Scholarships Scheme offered by the Company.
Postgraduate Overseas Scholarship Scheme

  • The scheme is offered to fresh university graduates with a minimum GPA 3.0 or 2nd class higher division from an accredited Institution by the Ministry of Higher Education
  • A score of 6.5 in the Academic IELTS is an essential requirement to the scheme.
  • The disciplines and majors are mainly engineering and geosciences or as advertised annually on the PDO website or the public media.
  • Applicants will be assessed and ranked according to their assessment scores and final grades.
  • Universities are selected by the Company in countries such as the U.K, USA, Canada, and Australia.
  • The scheme covers full tuition fees, medical insurance, living expenses, transportation, clothing, books, and equipment.
  • Successful candidates are obliged to serve the Company for a minimum of 3 years upon the successful completion of the Masters Degree programme and 5 years after the PhD.
