Coronavirus: Further PDO Interior Shift System Guidance
We continue to receive questions about the current shift system in the Interior. For clarity I wish to set out that PDO returned to single 15/13 day cycles for Omanis and 28/28 day for international expat staff in early May. The decision was taken following consultation and was the overwhelming view in both the North and South of the PDO concession areas based on health and welfare reasons.
The resumption of the standard normal shift pattern has now been widely introduced across the Concession area although there is still an option to retain a double shift in a single cluster, for example to minimise travel time for Omanis. In such cases they also need to continue to agree their schedule with their back-to-back. For expat staff their arrangements will continue to be dependent on international air restrictions.
Contractors are expected to follow the PDO shift system in the relevant cluster or business where they operate and should not be forcing their employees independently to work extended shifts. Worker welfare must be respected at all times.
Please direct any questions that you may have to your supervisor and or area coordinator. Contractors should discuss any concerns with their PDO contract holders. Overall we expect our field leadership to manage the process locally and to escalate any concerns.
Thank you for your continued support and I hope that this message sets out clearly how shift rotas are being managed.
