Defensive Driving Training - Pre-Course Eyesight Testing

Before anyone is permitted to begin a PDO defensive driving course with TATI, they are required to pass the PDO eyesight test to ensure their level of eyesight is above the minimum safe standard, either with or without spectacles. Unfortunately some people joining courses fail the test, resulting in them not being able to receive the training but the training fee is still charged.

TATI, the defensive driving training provider is conscious of the inconvenience this can cause to companies and individuals and how it can disrupt PDO¿s activities, so it is offering an additional service to alleviate the problem.

Effective immediately, for a nominal charge of RO 2.000 TATI are available at their training premises in Fahud, Nimr and Muscat to test the eyesight of people who have been nominated for a Defensive Driving course up to 3 weeks ahead of their course. The service will be available between 09:00 and 13:00 each working day. This is a walk-in service so no appointment is necessary, however it must be no longer than 3 weeks before your training is due to take place and you must have received confirmation of your course. Payment must be provided before the test is taken.

In the event of a person failing the eyesight test, TATI will waive the fee and refer the person to an optician to prescribe any corrective action deemed necessary to improve the eyesight to a level to pass the PDO test. Assuming you have come for the test in good time, you will have plenty of time to deal with any correction needed and eliminate the risk of forfeiting the course and fee due to a failed eyesight test on the morning of the course.

Please also note that even if you have attended an optician and had corrective action taken, you must still pass the eyesight test at TATI when you return for another course.
