On 2nd of December 2020, at 13:20 hrs, a heavy truck and trailer carrying pipes from Saih Rawl to Sohar on the Salalah-Muscat highway, near Awaifiya, the trailer had a puncture and stopped at the side of the road. The driver called his supervisor requesting maintenance team to help. At around 21:40 hrs, while waiting for the maintenance team, a 3rd party heavy truck collided with the rear of the trailer causing the pipes to go through the headboard into the driver cabin resulting in fatal injuries to the driver.
