Safety Day 2013

Aim

To focus on taking “Time for safety”, and support "Tell a Friend"

Objectives

The 2013 Safety Day theme is again “Time for safety”. This theme focuses on the element of “Time”, which is fundamental to our lives and to our business. Our safety performance relies on all of us taking time to do things safely.

The theme also reflects that we are taking time out for safety on Safety Day. We encourage you and your team to think about how we all can take time to do the right thing. Time to share ideas and concerns on safety. Time to make the connection between office and front line. Time to properly plan to work safely. Time to intervene. Time to reflect how our actions and behaviors can impact the safety of others. Even in today’s challenging business environment we should always take time to do things safely.

The theme “time for safety” allows us to focus on different contexts, to tailor to local safety risks and needs. For example:

  • Make time for safety: All of us should make time to know the hazards around us, to be mindful of risks, to see and report weak signals, and to act in a safe way.
  • It’s time for your say: It is the time to share your thoughts and personal safety concerns with others.
  • Time to care: Take time to understand and care about our impact on the local community’s safety.
  • Time to work together: Together we continue to build a stronger safety culture.

Get creative and think about what “Time for safety” means for you and your team. Through Safety Day engagements, we want to create a culture where staff and contractors working for PDO are able and willing to make time for safety. Safety Day events should be designed to address your team’s specific risks and needs.
